How to Make a Pig Snout Coffee Mug

Looking for a cute gift for a friend who is obsessed with pigs or collects all things swine? You won’t have to hit the store for this unique gift as you can make it at home, looking even more awesome when you present it.

EditSteps

  1. Wash mug thoroughly in soapy water. You want your mug completely clean before you apply any paint.

    • Dry well before beginning craft.

  2. Transfer your letters to the mug using your template. For example, if you want to write “oink oink” on the mug, lightly trace the letters from your template to the mug.

    • Choose an area on the mug that will be visible.

    • Take care not to smudge your pencil lines with your hands while transferring the letters.

  3. Paint letters with either the pink paint or you can use your paint pens for precision.

    • Allow ample dry time before adding other designs to that area of the mug.

  4. Add flourish or additional designs around the statement you’ve written. For example, small stars or a dot pattern could be drawn around the “oink.”

    • Use a contrasting color for your flourish and allow paint to dry before moving on to the next area.

  5. Turn mug upside down to paint the piggy’s “snout” on the bottom of the mug.

  6. Cover the bottom of the mug with pink paint. For this endeavor you can use your paint and paint brush.

  7. Make sure the bottom is completely dry before you add the piggy’s nostrils. This could mean that the mug will need to remain in a cool, dry area for up to 24 hours depending on how much paint (coat thickness) you used.

  8. Add nostrils using your black Sharpie pen. Two ovals side by side will be ideal for the pig’s nostrils.

  9. Line your oven rack with aluminum foil and pre-heat oven to 350.

  10. Bake mug in oven for 30 minutes at 350 to set paint on mug.

  11. Remove from oven using oven mitts and allow time for mug to cool.
