4 White Tigers And 3 White Lions Were Born At One Zoo Within A Week

Four rare white lions and three white tigers have been born at a private zoo in Poland within the past week, officials announced Thursday.

Three rare newborn white tigers with their mother Mandzi are photographed just hours after they were born at the private Zoo Safari in Borysew, Poland.

White cats are not albino, instead, they are the result of both parents having a rare recessive gene, which means in almost all cases, inbreeding is involved.

Critics say zoos breed the white cats to generate public interest, and with it, profits. There only an estimated few hundred white lions in the world, according to the Associated Press.

The fourth cub born on Sept. 18, 2016, to five-year-old Azira cannot be seen in the photo.
