Make your PowerPoint night unforgettable with these clever topics

If you and your friends have decided to host a PowerPoint night (based on the viral TikTok trend), you’re definitely in for a treat! But what should your presentation be about? Never fear: we’ve got you covered. Sometimes, knowing you’re free to come up with any PowerPoint idea imaginable can make it harder to nail down a perfect topic, which is why we’ve put together a compilation of the best PowerPoint night ideas. Take a look at the ideas below, from the hilarious to the completely unhinged, and look for one that inspires you; you’ll be plotting out your PowerPoint in no time!

Examples of Hilarious PowerPoint Night Ideas

  • “Starter Packs” for friends, incorporating their attributes and quirks
  • A list of things in life that don’t make any sense
  • A compilation of your most unpopular opinions (and why they’re right)
  • Ranking the best and worst places to cry
  • Made-up conspiracy theories that should be real
  • A “Who knows me best?” interactive game
  • Ranking fictional characters by their likelihood to commit tax evasion

Steps

Funniest PowerPoint Night Ideas

  1. Starter Packs{endbold} Create a “starter pack” meme for each of your friends at the PowerPoint night with pictures of their favorite hobbies, foods, and belongings, as well as catchphrases or traits they’re known for. You can also make Pinterest boards for each friend!
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 1.jpg
  2. Friends as Memes{endbold} From Pepe the King Prawn to a good old-fashioned Evil Kermit, pick matching memes for all your friends based on their personalities and showcase them in a silly PowerPoint.
  3. Uncovering Cringiest School Photos{endbold} Dig up cringeworthy school pictures of everyone at the PowerPoint party, including yourself, and create a presentation out of them.
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 3.jpg
  4. Personalized Hallmark Movie Plots for The Friend Group{endbold} Hallmark movies are notoriously cheesy (and kind of hilarious to watch). So, come up with equally cheesy Hallmark-worthy narratives for each of your friends and tell them what kind of Hallmark movie they’d be in your presentation!
  5. Things That Aren’t Edible But Should Be{endbold} We’ve all seen objects that look like they should be edible, even though they absolutely aren’t. D&D players joke about their shiny dice looking like candy, and does anyone remember the Tide Pod obsession? In your PowerPoint, compile a list of items like that—they aren’t edible, but they really should be.
  6. Why We Should Start Worshipping Cats Again{endbold} Cats: they’re sweet, they’re silly, they’re haughty, and they have a thousand-yard stare that feels like it contains a millennium’s worth of wisdom. They were also revered in ancient Egyptian culture, and, in a PowerPoint, you could make your case for bringing that reverence back. Bonus points if you can include pictures of your cat!
PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 6 Version 2.jpg
  7. A List of Things That Make Zero Sense{endbold} This is a pretty simple concept! Think of things that just don’t make any sense to you, and make a presentation about them. For example, what’s with that tiny pocket inside the bigger pocket of your jeans? Why is it easier for most people to use one hand over the other? Why do rich people get more free stuff even though they can afford it? How are platypuses real?
  8. How to (Finally) Choose What Show to Binge{endbold} Do you and your friends often take forever to figure out what you’re going to watch together? Devise a solution! You could try making a flow chart to narrow down the options or a step-by-step process to ensure a TV show gets picked (and poke fun at yourselves for indecisiveness in the process).
  9. Weird Amazon Products I Genuinely Recommend{endbold} Comb your Amazon cart (or purchases and wishlists) for weird, niche products that seem hilarious—but could actually be worth owning. Write up funny little reviews for each of them in your presentation!
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 9.jpg
  10. Ranking the Top 10 Ways to Ruin a Family Reunion{endbold} What’s more entertaining: throwing a glass of wine at your most annoying relative, or making up the most far-fetched, scandalous story about yourself just to watch them gasp? Create a ranking of your favorite ways to disrupt a family reunion (and how to pull each one off, of course).
  11. Google Searches the FBI Agent Watching Me Definitely Reported{endbold} Say an agent is monitoring your search history. Which of your Google searches would seem totally shady without context? Put together a roundup of your funniest and weirdest-sounding Google searches and explain why they’re harmless (but probably got you onto some FBI watchlist).[1]
  12. History’s Worst Haircuts{endbold} Do a deep dive into historical figures (photographs, paintings, anything you can find) and make a presentation on the most heinous hairdos out there.
PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 12 Version 2.jpg
  13. A Handbook for First Contact With Aliens{endbold} What should the protocol on first contact be? What would you do if you were in charge? Make your own personal guide to first contact with aliens, including what sort of things you’d show them to explain humanity to them—the sillier, the better.
  14. Ranking My Dreams From Most to Least Realistic{endbold} Can you remember a few of your most vivid (and hopefully funny) dreams? Make a presentation about your craziest dreams, and rank them based on how real they felt in the moment!

Unique & Creative PowerPoint Night Ideas

  1. Each Friend As A…{endbold} This idea is left intentionally broad—because there are so many different variations to choose from! The basic concept is to pick a subject and then match each of your friends with something related to that subject based on their personalities. For instance, you could do “Each Friend As A…”[2]
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 15.jpg
    • Fast food chain
    • Shakespeare play
    • Simpsons side-character
    • SpongeBob character
    • Character from The Office
    • Nintendo character
    • Disney Princess
    • Reality TV show
    • Starbucks order
    • Sandwich
    • Song
    • Color palette
    • Candle scent
    • Superhero
    • Dog breed
  2. In Defense of Middle Children (& Why They Deserve a Hug){endbold} There’s a running joke that middle children sometimes get the short end of the stick in the family dynamic—and now you can make an argument as to why middle kids deserve to catch a break sometimes.
  3. Pie Is Better Than Cake (Don’t Argue with Me){endbold} Here’s an example of another “unpopular opinion”-type PowerPoint! Forget birthday cake—explain why “birthday pie” is a much more agreeable concept.
  4. Ranking My Ghost Encounters in Life{endbold} Ever seen a ghost? Maybe you even have multiple supernatural experiences to talk about. Make a presentation describing them, or even ranking them from most to least intense, scary, cool, or something similar.
PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 18 Version 2.jpg
    • If you don’t have ghost encounters, rank a few of the best ghost stories or encounters from other people instead.
  5. The Most [Zodiac Sign] Thing Each Friend Has Ever Done{endbold} Maybe your Aries friend got mad and popped off at the worst possible moment, or maybe your Pisces pal is, accurately, the most indecisive person you know. Figure out your friends’ Sun signs (according to astrology), then pinpoint funny examples of them at peak Sun sign energy.
  6. Where to Go on the Next Road Trip{endbold} Make your pitch to the group on where you all should go on your next road trip. The more random and silly pit stops or tourist trap ideas you come up with, the better!
  7. Best Movie Marathon Themes{endbold} Start by coming up with a few fun themes for movie marathons (like “environmental apocalypse flicks” or “movies featuring comedienne Jennifer Coolidge”). Then, make a list of movie suggestions for each theme. With any luck, this can be a presentation and a go-to plan the next time you have a movie night with friends.
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 21.jpg
  8. A Fool-Proof Guide to Faking Your Own Death{endbold} If you were going to go off the grid and start a new life on a tropical island or city halfway around the world, how would you do it? Present your watertight plan in the form of a (comedic) self-help guide.
  9. Historical Figures I’d Want to Start a Band With{endbold} Can you imagine a girl group with Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, and Sappho? Create a list of historical figures you’d want to start a band with—and bonus points if you describe what type of band you’d be, and what each person’s role would be.
    • You don’t have to use the “band” idea—use your imagination!
    • You could try “Historical figures I’d go bar hopping with,” “Historical figures I’d want on my bowling team,” or “My dream cast of historical figures on a season of Survivor.” Anything that floats your boat!
  10. How I Think We’d Do In the Zombie Apocalypse{endbold} What roles would your friend group play in a zombie-infested world? Who’d be the overprepared survivor, and who’d go out in a blaze of glory? Develop a complete scenario with stories for each member of the group.[3]
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 24.jpg
  11. Excuses to Cancel Plans You Were Never Going to Follow Through On{endbold} This could be especially relatable if you’re presenting to a bunch of introverts! Come up with a list of creative (and funny) excuses to use when canceling plans that you really have no interest in.
  12. The Best Places to Wear Crocs (User-Tested){endbold} Crocs are so comfy and controversial—some people swear by them, and others can’t stand them. Share your own Croc experiences with a list of the best (and funniest) places to wear them in your daily life.

Unhinged PowerPoint Night Ideas

  1. My Most Unpopular Opinions (And Why I’m Right){endbold} That’s right: list a few of your unpopular opinions (“pour milk before cereal,” “sprinkles are overrated,” “winter is the best season”). Then, passionately explain why you’re right (and your friends are wrong). You might get booed a little, but everyone will have fun, too![4]
PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 27 Version 2.jpg
  2. The Case For Pineapple on Pizza{endbold} One of the most controversial culinary choices is the decision to put pineapple on pizza. Is it inspired? Is it nasty? Make a PowerPoint and explain why it’s actually the best pizza topping ever—better than pepperoni, olives, sausage, or anything else.
  3. The Friend Group As Horror Movie Stereotypes{endbold} Who would get killed off immediately? Who’d be the “final girl”? Who’d turn out to be the axe murderer? Assign all of your friends a role and explain how their story would go down if they were part of a horror film plot.
PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 29 Version 2.jpg
  4. Proof [Friend] Is Actually a Pod Person{endbold} For this idea, you can basically just pick any friend—or a few of them—and list a few of their weird, funny habits. Make an argument for why they must clearly be a pod person (but, of course, you still love them anyway).
  5. Ranking Conspiracy Theories By Believability{endbold} Alternatively, rank theories by how unhinged they sound, how much you personally buy into them, or how much you want them to be true. It’s up to you!
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 31.jpg
  6. Unwrapping Everyone’s Spotify Wrapped{endbold} The yearly Spotify Wrapped reveal is always a subject of conversation online. If you can find evidence of your friends’ past Spotify Wrapped reveals, put together a PowerPoint explaining what each Wrapped says about the respective friend.
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 32.jpg

  8. Rating Places I’ve Cried{endbold} Is breaking down in a McDonald’s better than sobbing at your partner’s parents’ house? Come up with a list of places and rank them from best to worst place to have a good cry.
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 34.jpg
  9. Exposing the Best & Worst of My Camera Roll{endbold} This one might take some bravery, but if you’re game, present some of the best and most cringeworthy pics on your camera roll. Bad selfies, videos of you failing epically at something, and hilarious pet photos are all fair game!
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 35.jpg
  10. My (Deranged) Bucket List{endbold} This isn’t your ordinary bucket list—this is all the wild, out-there things you’re a little scared to put on the ordinary bucket list. Tell your friends all about the most unhinged stuff you want to do in your life!
  11. Everyone’s Red Flag Crushes Ranked By How Toxic They Are{endbold} Razzing one another about liking people (or characters) is part of being in a friend group, and you can make a PowerPoint out of it. Identify a fictional “red flag” crush (or a “hear me out”) for each of your friends, then rank them all!
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 37.jpg
  12. A List of Conspiracy Theories I Just Invented{endbold} Why talk about existing conspiracy theories when you can make your own? Come up with a few wacky conspiracy theories, then try to make a semi-logical argument for each of them.
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 38.jpg
  13. Can You Assert Dominance By T-Posing? A Scientific Study{endbold}Make a funny presentation based on the “T-posing to assert dominance” meme and predict whether your siblings, pets, or friends are more likely to take you seriously when you’re t-posing.
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 39.jpg

Interactive PowerPoint Night Ideas

  1. Guess Who? (Friends Edition){endbold} Play a game of “Guess Who?” with a twist! Start describing funny details about one member of the group and see how many people can guess who it is. Keep going around the group and try to include as many people as possible.
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 40.jpg
  2. Who Said It?{endbold} Can you remember hilarious and totally iconic things that members of the friend group have said in the past? Make a game out of it! On each slide of your presentation, display a quote…and see if everyone can guess who said it.
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 41.jpg
  3. Predicting the Future{endbold} Where will you and your friends be in 5 years? 10? 50? Make a presentation full of predictions—both funny and inspirational—and share them with the group.
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 42.jpg
  4. Trivia Night for Friends{endbold} Play a game of trivia where the answer to every question is someone at the party. Give a snippet of information about someone (without naming names), and then see which member of the group can correctly guess who that detail is about first. The person with the most correct answers wins the trivia game![5]
  5. Explain that Picture{endbold} Go through your friends’ Instagram profiles, Facebook albums, and other photos. Pull a few that don’t make a ton of sense without context, then call on people during the presentation to “explain that picture.”
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 44.jpg
  6. Who Knows Me Best?{endbold} This is similar to the trivia idea—but instead of asking trivia questions about other people, ask them about yourself and see who can answer. Ask people to name your favorite band, least favorite cookie flavor, big three zodiac signs (Sun, Moon, Rising), and beyond. The person with the most correct answers officially knows you best!
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 45.jpg
  7. Two Truths and a Lie{endbold} Play a game of two truths and a lie; on each slide, present two facts and one lie about yourself. Then, have everyone in the group go around and try to identify the lie! If you want to have winners and losers, see which person can spot the most lies.[6]
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 46.jpg

Thought-Provoking PowerPoint Night Ideas

    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 49.jpg
  4. Wild Historical Events That Really Happened{endbold} Everyone learns about the core events that shaped human history in school, but what about the more obscure (but fascinating) ones left behind in footnotes? PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 53.jpg
  8. Obscure Cultural Holidays{endbold} Everyone knows about holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah—but what about Austria’s Krampusnacht (starring a horned entity that travels around with St. Nick and punishes naughty kids) or Spain’s La Tomatina (featuring a gigantic tomato fight)? Which Renaissance trends deserve to be forgotten? Let your inner fashion critic go wild![7]
  6. Reality TV Is Better Than Therapy{endbold} Calling reality TV-watchers! Reference some of the messiest, most emotional, and iconic moments in your favorite reality shows as evidence why watching them is kind of like therapy (but more entertaining).
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 61.jpg
  7. Most Overrated Fictional Character Deaths{endbold} No, not underrated—overrated. Ask yourself which movie, TV, book, and game characters honestly deserved something more gruesome or spectacular than they got?
    PowerPoint Night Ideas Step 62.jpg
  8. Smash or Pass: Video Game Boss Enemies Edition{endbold} Make a list of video game bosses and decide which ones you’d “smash,” and which would be a pass. What Does “Cracked” Mean in Slang?

Everything you need to know about this TikTok & gaming term

So you’ve been scrolling around TikTok and stumbled across the slang term “cracked”—but what does it mean? You might be surprised! There are a few different definitions for “cracked,” although, as a slang term, it most often means being incredibly skilled at something (mainly video games). In this article, we’ll cover all the meanings of “cracked,” explain the slang’s origin, and teach you how to use it on social media (with examples). Without further ado, let’s take a closer look at this colourful piece of internet slang!

A Quick Slang Definition of “Cracked”

On TikTok, social media, and among gamers, “cracked” is slang for being really great at something. It mainly refers to being exceptionally skilled at a video game, and it first gained popularity among Fortnite players. Outside of that, it’s also slang for “crazy” (although this usage can be offensive).

Steps

What is the slang meaning of “cracked” on TikTok?

  1. “Cracked” is slang for being skilled or really great at something. Although this could apply to many skills—being great at painting, basketball, and everything in between—it’s usually used in gaming culture. That means “cracked” mainly refers to an amazing gamer. When someone is “cracked,” they’re more than good; they’re a pro, godlike, insanely skilled![1]
    Cracked Meaning Slang Step 1.jpg
    • “Did you see me take out that boss? I’m so cracked!!”
    • “Have you seen Anna’s Fortnite skills? She’s so cracked in that game!”
  2. “Cracked” can also describe something especially cool or awesome. Just as you can say that someone is “cracked,” you can also describe an object or piece of media as “cracked,” too. You might say something is “cracked” if you really like it and want to gush about how incredible it is. For example:
    Cracked Meaning Slang Step 2.jpg
    • “The new Apex Legends update is cracked!”
    • “Every version of Super Smash Bros is cracked, tbh!”

Other Meanings of “Cracked”

  1. “Cracked” also means “crazy,” although this usage can be offensive. You may also see someone use “cracked” to say that something is crazy, or describe another person as acting irrationally. Just be aware that, when referring to someone with a mental health condition, “cracked” can be very offensive (since people with mental health conditions are absolutely not “crazy” or “cracked”).[2]
    Cracked Meaning Slang Step 5.jpg
    • For example, you could say, "That idea is so cracked" to say that it seems irrational, or "That toy looks cracked" to say that it looks weird.
    • However, don’t call someone “cracked” if they have a mental health condition (or at all, to avoid upsetting anyone).
  2. “Cracked” also refers to something broken, with visible cracks on it. This is the regular old dictionary definition of cracked (rather than slang), describing anything with cracks on or under its surface. For example, if your phone falls on the ground and the screen gets damaged, you might say your phone screen is “cracked.”
    Cracked Meaning Slang Step 6.jpg
    • “Uh-oh, I cracked my dad’s favorite dish.”
    • “I love kintsugi. It’s so cool seeing that something can be cracked, but not broken.”
  3. “Cracking” means beautiful or very good in British slang. Though the wording is slightly different, “cracking” can be a complementary term. It’s a synonym for someone gorgeous, fine, elegant, or handsome—or, on the other hand, something that’s just very excellent. You can use it to compliment someone you think is good-looking, or comment on something you really like! For example:
Cracked Meaning Slang Step 5 Version 2.jpg
    • “Wow! What a cracking sandwich!”
    • “Your outfit is so gorgeous. You look absolutely cracking!”

Where does the slang term “cracked” come from?

  1. It’s unclear when “cracked” was first used, but it gained popularity in 2019. Its usage as slang for “crazy” dates back much longer, but it really only gained popularity on TikTok and among gamers as a term for being incredibly skilled at something around mid-2019. An Upcomer article from July 2019 even lists “cracked” as an example of Fortnite terminology!
    Cracked Meaning Slang Step 8.jpg
    • In that article, the definition of cracked is, “The description used when a player is very good at the game or makes a great play.”[3]
    • According to Urban Dictionary, it’s also possible that “cracked” was first used by Apex Legends players to indicate that their shields were broken, but the term was later misinterpreted to mean “very good at the game” (and took off from there).
      • However, this origin story isn’t confirmed—“cracked” can’t be definitively traced back to a single source.
  2. “Cracked” is still used among gamers and gaming communities. If you see the term “cracked” out in the wild (on TikTok or social media), odds are it’s got something to do with video games! For instance, gamers sometimes post clips of themselves making some impressive move in a game with a caption describing their skills as “cracked.”
    Cracked Meaning Slang Step 9.jpg
    • One TikTok video even became a viral meme; it features a boy trying to hype up his friend, saying he’s “cracked at Fortnite.”

How to Use “Cracked” as Slang

  1. Describe yourself as “cracked” if you’re great at something. Are you proud of your mad skills as a gamer (or your skills in any other hobby or pastime)? Use “cracked” to drop a brag or two on social media—or among friends—when you’re really feeling yourself. For example:[4]
    Cracked Meaning Slang Step 3.jpg
    • “I took this vid of my last Overwatch match just to prove how CRACKED I am!!”
    • I’m so cracked in World of Warcraft, it’s not even funny!”
    • When using “cracked” as slang, keep in mind that people are most likely to understand when you’re making a gaming-related comment. You can use it outside of that, too, but it’s most popular in gaming culture.
  2. Tell friends they’re “cracked” when they show off their talents. That’s right, “cracked” isn’t just something you can use to describe yourself—use it to tell other people that they’re amazing at something, too. Congratulate a friend on their top-notch gamer skills (or any other skills, for that matter).[5]
Cracked Meaning Slang Step 9 Version 2.jpg
    • “Woah, that’s your high score? You’re cracked!”
    • “I can’t believe what an insanely good cook you are! This food is cracked!”

Common Expressions Using “Crack”

  1. “Get cracking” is an idiom meaning to act quickly. To “get cracking” means to hurry up, move fast, or start doing something swiftly. So, when you need to get something done (or go somewhere) urgently, you might say you have to “get cracking.”[6]
    Cracked Meaning Slang Step 10.jpg
    • Example: “Come on! We have to get cracking, or we’ll be late for the party!”
  2. To “crack up” means to burst into laughter. “Crack up” is a phrase describing loud, rip-roaring laughter. Saying someone “cracked up” implies they started laughing suddenly, and that they laughed a lot.[7]
Cracked Meaning Slang Step 11 Version 2.jpg
    • Example: “His comment totally caught me off guard. I cracked up in front of everyone!”
  3. Something sub-par can be described as “not all it’s cracked up to be.” Saying that something “isn’t all it’s cracked up to be” basically means it didn’t live up to the hype, or that it was disappointing despite your high expectations.
    Cracked Meaning Slang Step 12.jpg
    • Example: “The new album got so much hype, but it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.”

All About the Musical Wicked

Wicked is a Broadway musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. It’s loosely based on the book Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, and it essentially serves as a prequel to the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. The show premiered on Broadway at the Gershwin Theatre on October 30, 2003.

Wicked follows the unlikely friendship that blooms between Elphaba Thropp, who later becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, and Galinda Upland, who later becomes Glinda the Good Witch, when a mishap makes them roommates at Shiz University. In the original Broadway cast, Idina Menzel played Elphaba, and Kristin Chenoweth played Glinda.[1]
