How to Block Safari on iPhone or iPod Touch

An iPhone or iPod Touch can be a great toy for kids or a great learning tool. But, as a parent, you might want to restrict access to some apps, specifically the ones that allow your kids to surf the Internet. In this instance, it would be the Safari web browser.

  1. Locate and open in the home screen.

  2. Go to .

  3. Press .

  4. Enter a Passcode to lock the restrictions area.

    Remember this passcode or you will lock yourself out of Safari, too!

  5. Move the slider (to the right of the Safari icon) from to .

  6. Press the button and the icon for the Safari app will be gone!

  • To re-enable Safari:

    • Go back into .

    • Type the .

    • Move the Safari slider back to .

    • Press the button.

  • Apps such as Twitter and Facebook will work even without Safari. Be sure to identify the apps that access the Internet independently from Safari and block each of those apps separately, if desired.

  • Be careful to take note of (and remember) the passcode. You will need it to re-enable Safari.
